O lançamento do HDMI 2.1 é uma realidade. A entidade HDMI Forum, que reúne fabricantes de hardware do mundo inteiro, anunciou as novas especificações da conectividade nesta terça-feira (28) . O padrão havia sido apresentado inicialmente no começo do ano, durante a feira de eletrônicos CES. Agora, o formato ganhou mais um upgrade.

As principais novidades estão no suporte à resolução 10K e a imagens com Dynamic HDR, tecnologia que melhora cores e contraste de vídeos exibidos na tela tela. Por enquanto, ainda não há previsão para chegada do novo modelo de HDMI ao mercado.

 

Outras especificações se mantêm as mesmas do anúncio na CES 2017. O HDMI 2.1 irá permitir transmissão de áudio e vídeo por interface digital de até 48 Gb/s. A taxa é superior aos 40 Gb/s oferecidos pelo Thunderbolt 3, conexão criada pela Intel e utilizada principalmente pela Apple. O alto limite de banda do HDMI 2.1 permitirá reprodução de vídeos 8K em frequência de 60 Hz e em 4K em 120 Hz. O HDMI Forum não divulgou a frequência de operação na resolução máxima 10K.

Outro avanço trazido pelo HDMI 2.1 é na reprodução de games. O recurso Game Mode VRR, suportado pelo novo padrão, promete taxas de atualização variável de imagem. A tecnologia tende a oferecer gráficos mais fluidos ao rodar jogos em PCs e consoles modernos, como o Xbox One X, da Microsoft.

 

A novidade foi anunciada em conjunto com o Ultra High Speed HDMI, novo tipo de cabo HDMI feito para funcionar no padrão 2.1 O acessório promete tirar o máximo proveito das especificações da conexão, desde que utilizado com aparelhos mais modernos, como TVs e serviços de streaming de conteúdo. O cabo, porém, também é compatível com aparelhos de vídeo e som mais antigos.

A expectativa é de que, a partir de agora, fabricantes de eletrônicos comecem a adotar o HDMI 2.1 aos poucos. No entanto, ainda deve demorar até que TVs 10K cheguem ao mercado para aproveitar a taxa máxima de transmissão de dados. Por enquanto, telas 4K começam a se popularizar entre modelos mais caros. Já o padrão 8K deve aparecer nos primeiros modelos à venda até o fim de 2017.
